Recent statistics from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons show that while breast augmentation is still overwhelmingly popular, there has been an upswing in breast lift procedures. Since the year 2000, this surgery has grown by 70%. Here is an interesting article from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons about this topic.
Breast lift surgery will give your figure a younger, more balanced appearance. There are a variety of reasons that women choose to undergo this procedure, but here are a couple of the most common.
If you’ve had children, you may have developed sagging breast tissue over time – especially if you were nursing. Nursing causes the breast tissue to stretch and the volume to decrease. Surgery becomes the best viable option to lift the breasts. Sometimes this is done in conjunction with a breast augmentation (which will add volume and fullness), depending on how much volume has been lost. Breast augmentation with an implant or possibly liposuction and fat reinjection, will add fullness to create a more youthful appearance.
Breast lift is also a common procedure for women in their peri-menopausal years (typically 40’s and into the 50’s). As part of the normal aging process, the body undergoes changes, including hormonal swings. This can sometimes cause weight fluctuations, which may change the way the breasts look. Some women take on a “matronly” appearance because the breasts have lost their elasticity and firmness. And, as with everything else, gravity takes over as we age. Eventually, this will cause the tissue to sag – especially in women who have larger breasts. A breast lift will give the profile a more youthful look.
While working out at the gym, doing yoga and participating in other exercise programs are important, unfortunately, they cannot lift the breast tissue. Surgery becomes an option to alleviate these problems.
